VISA & ENTRY INFORMATION

Travelling to Ethiopia

International visitors should check the visa requirements applicable
to their nationality and purpose of travel before travelling to Ethiopia.

Ethiopia operates an official e-Visa system, allowing eligible travellers
to complete their application online before departure. Visitors should only use the official Ethiopian Government e-Visa portal.

Passports should be valid for at least six months from the intended date
of entry.

A Workshop/Conference Visa is also available for eligible international participants attending conferences and similar events in Ethiopia. This category requires supporting documentation, including an invitation letter.

Ethiopian Birr (ETB). Cards are accepted at major international hotels and many larger establishments, but carrying some local currency is recommended.

Amharic is the principal local language. English is widely used in hotels,

Climate

February is generally dry and sunny in Addis Ababa, with warm days and
cooler mornings and evenings. A light jacket is recommended.

Altitude

Addis Ababa sits at more than 2,300 metres above sea level. International
visitors may notice the altitude during their first day or two.
